SERONERA WILDLIFE LODGE

Built around an enormous rock in the heart of the Serengeti, the Seronera Wildlife Lodge is the ideal place to observe the wildebeest as they migrate in their thousands following the rains and fresh pasture.

It's the only place in the world where this exceptional phenomenon recurs, year after year. Some 90 miles from Ngorongoro, and 200 from Arusha, the Seronera Wildlife Lodge features 75 rooms with private bathrooms, a restaurant and a bar overlooking the savanna.

The epitome of most people's vision of Africa, the Serengeti (which means "endless plains" in the Masai language), is Tanzania's oldest and largest wildlife park. Covering some 6,000 square miles, the diversity of its landscape comprises rivers and lakes, the savanna with its rocky outcroppings or Kopjes, wooded hills and vast grassy plains.

Renowned for the beauty of its skyscape, the Serengeti is home to hundreds of different animal species, including 14-foot-long Nile crocodile which inhabit the Seronera River.

The Serengeti provides one of the world's most amazing natural spectacles ... the migration of huge herds of wildebeest and zebra, accompanied by thousands of migratory birds, including stork, falcon, kestrel, buzzard, swallow, swift, tern and wagtail.
