Zanzibar is an exotic and tropical idyll with a unique ambience largely due to its turbulent and diverse history. At the heart of Zanzibar lies the fascinating Stone Town, where time has seemingly stood still, filled with old historic buildings and the gentle scent of spices.

"Just the mention of the name - 'Zanzibar' - tingles the imagination" - Ms. M. Watson.

During the harvest season between, July and December, the air hangs thick with the scent of clove. Along the East Coast there are endless beautiful beaches and inviting aquamarine water. Half a day's dhow cruise from North Zanzibar is the true clove capital of the world - Pemba lsland. Offshore lies the Pemba Channel, one of the main reasons for a visit is to dive, snorkel and fish these wonder-filled waters. Blessed by a multitude of fish, this is recognised by game fishermen as some of the finest waters off the East Coast of Africa.

Zanzibar - little known and favoured because of it.

As with Zanzibar, the island of Pemba is dotted with ruins from its rich historical past. South of Zanzibar, Mafia Island sits at the mouth of the Rufiji River. This island is new to tourism and presents a gem of captivating scenery - a tropical paradise awaits. The amazing mermaid-like dugong breeds among the grasses of the Majira Channel, which also plays host to the awesome great white shark. On the beaches of small islands to the east of Mafia, the giant sea turtle lays its eggs. All these Tanzanian islands allow the tourist the chance to experience the sheer romance of paradisical tropical isles in the sun.

"A sepia tone lifestyle" - Mrs. J. Beaufort.
