Patterson's Safari Camp

In Tsavo East National Park, a short distance from the coast of Kenya, there is a safari camp which justifiably lays claim to one of the most enduring adventure stories of Africa.

The famed railroad from Mombasa to Nairobi passes nearby, and the area upon which the camp now lies is the same upon which the infamous lion "Man eaters" of Tsavo were finally put to rest by the man that the camp is named after - Patterson.

Gone are those days of course - in the current time the camp is situated in a glade of "fever" and indigenous trees on the river providing a quiet charm.

Accommodation here is in keeping with the history of "safari" though - genuine tentage upon solid foundations, all with ensuite facilities, and a separate timber based lounge and dining area overlooking the river.

Pattersons's is what safari is all about - rustic adventure and fun filled sunshine - amidst one of the greatest National Park habitat areas in the world.

There is an abundance of wildlife here, both great and small, and roaming the bush reveals an exciting array of natural habitat and animal occupants not available elsewhere. Bird life is excellent too.

And you never know, from the safety of your vehicle, you may come face to face with a descendant of the infamous "Man eaters of Tsavo".
